This website is dedicated to those whom have come before us, those many brave unspoken
heroes of our past. To whom without their resilience and integrity, we their
descendents would not have achieved the heights that they had aspired. My name is Lamont L. Beauregard, the great-great grandson of Silla Short, the great-grandson of John H. Austin, I am also the webmaster of this site. Family members wishing to contribute additional information, or correct erroneous information are encouraged to e-mail me the information. The Short/Austin Family Tree contains the names of 1,242 family members, with more to be added as they are received. The earliest recorded event is the birth of my great-great grandmother Silla Short 1813 in the slave state of Virginia. A thanks to Karen Stewart-Comage, Bernice Wilkerson, Charles Bobbitt and James Walker all of St. Louis, Missouri. Mary Bobbitt of E. St Louis, Illinois. Denise Johnson-Gray of Monroe, Michigan, Stella Austin-Mahone of Ypsilanti, Michigan. J.C. Turner of Stanton, Tennessee and Sandra Taylor-Hilton of Seattle, Washington for their endless hours of collecting data related to the Short and Austin Families, to all family members who continue to submit family history for updating this site and a very special to Roosevelt Short and his son Michael without who's years of commitment and dedication to keeping our family's history alive, this web site would not have been possible. In the classrooms across America the teaching of American History to children is mandatory. In the homes of the descendents of John H. Austin and Silla Short teaching The Short/Austin Family History to our children should be mandatory. "History is a people's memory, and without a memory, man is demoted to the lower animals" -Malcolm X |
